Its amusing to me that you want free help. Every time I’ve visited your location on Beaver St. and inquired about a price on something I was always given an exorbitant price on something that was donated. I understand that you have to raise funds for running your business but it just seems that instead of serving the citizens of York with your RECYCLED and donated items it just seems your self serving. Why should anyone buy anything from your (NON-PROFIT) When they can get the same item brand new for less???
David,
Thank you for your comment. I’m sorry you’ve had a less than desireable experience at Re-Source York. Pricing is a double-edged sword for us as we are, indeed, trying to run a business while at the same time serve as a lower-cost alternative to big box home improvement stores. We do all we can to have our prices be 30 to 80% lower than regular retail, but we don’t always get everything priced right. I won’t deny we are trying to make money, as we are a social enterprise affiliate/revenue generator for Bell Socialization Services. We are also a job skills training site for Bell’s vocational rehabilitation program. You see, Re-Source York doesn’t just try to recycle materials back into usefullness, our efforts also help people of the greater York area live more independently and productively in the community. I hope you understand the mission of Re-Source York more fully and will give us another chance at our new home improvement store at 161 E. Ninth Avenue in North York or at our home furnishing store at 405 Carlisle Avenue in York.
