Started as a non-profit building supply and home improvement resale store in Spring 2002 as Re-Stor-York, the social enterprise was a collaboration between York Habitat for Humanity and Bell Socialization Services, Inc. Effective July 1, 2009, the name was changed when Bell Socialization Services took over sole management and soon thereafter a second location was opened.
Being a valuable profit source for York-based charity, Bell Socialization Services, is a key component of the Re-Source York operation. Another is providing employment to low-income disabled persons - primarily Bell service users – to help develop vocational and socialization skills. Some of these employees have become long term members of the store team; many others have successfully transitioned into other work environments.
Contractors, remodelers and do-it-yourselfers in the know make Re-Source York their first stop for any project. Our building and renovation supply house – packed with everything from nuts and bolts and hinges to windows, doors, bathroom fixtures and full kitchen cabinet set ups – has moved from North and Beaver Streets, York to 161 East Ninth Avenue in North York. We invite you to check out the new store; January 2012 hours are Thursday and Friday 9AM to 5PM, Saturday 9AM to 4PM.
The RSY Indoor Yard Sale at 405 Carlisle Avenue, York, is right across the street from the York Fairgrounds. With all the scavenging fun of a yard sale, you can shop without worrying about the weather. A bargain hunters dream, our thrift store holds treasures old and new, whether you’re looking for household basics, retro conversation starters, or collectibles. A large room in the back holds a quickly-revolving inventory of good condition furniture. This is THE place to shop for home decor and furnishings.
