Re-Source York Scavenger Hunt

Welcome to the inaugural Re-Source York Scavenger Hunt! While I am serving as an online communications intern for RSY, I’ll be running a weekly series to focus on a group of items found around the two Re-Source locations.

For my first trip around the West York location (located at 405 Carlisle Ave), I decided to focus on art. Everything from original pieces to prints from world-renowned painters are available at the West York location. Although I found many gems, I have selected three works that are sure to pique your interest.

Re-Source Week 1

This piece of geometric art is about a square foot in measurement and is great to put in a hallway around the house or even in a bedroom near a side table. This was actually a gift from a son to a mother. No definitive answer as to whether this is an original piece or not, but I’m leaning towards original. The piece had a short message on the back, it is from a guy named Gregg as a Mother’s Day gift to his mother, and the piece is called “A Grandmother’s Quilt.” Re-Source Week 1

This piece is a rather large print of Picasso’s 1901 painting, “Child with a Dove” from the artist’s Blue Period. Along with the right frame, this could perfectly fit in a dining or living room wall. Although a somber image, it remains one of Picasso’s most prominent Blue Period works, and the original piece was recently sold to Qatar for a stratospheric $76 million.

The final piece is a huge print by artist Walter Brightwell that is sure to catch your eye in the West York Re-Source store. The print is fairly massive; I had to step a couple of feet away to take a photograph of the full piece. Brightwell is known for his realist American works, taking inspiration from classic American parks, lakes, and mountains. The image at Re-Source is of a barn with two horses and their owner. The image is titled, “A Day in June.”

It was tough to narrow down the images to these three, but these are great additions to anyone’s art gallery, and their broad appeal made them stand out.

This isn’t all though, I have a sneak peek for something that is due to be for sale that is an exciting addition to the Re-Source selection! We will post more information soon, but here is an image to whet your curiosity!
